ELDRIDGE -- North Scott scored nine runs over the fifth and sixth innings and rallied to beat Jefferson, 14-7, in a non-conference baseball game played on a steamy Fourth of July afternoon.

All nine runs scored after two were out. The 10th-ranked Lancers (28-6) scored four runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth.

Jefferson (14-20) lost for the fifth time in its last six games. The J-Hawks committed seven errors, including three in the North Scott sixth inning.

Chance Tiedtke was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs for Jefferson. Dylan Wright and Ky Kramer had two hits apiece.

North Scott held a 5-3 lead when Jefferson scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 7-5 lead. Tiedtke, Layne Sullivan, Wright and Kramer had run-scoring hits.

Jefferson appeared to get a huge break in the bottom of the fifth. With no outs and bases loaded, North Scott's Zach Breneman hit an apparent sacrifice fly to Tiedtke in left. But the run was disallowed when North Scott runner Ryan Schelin was ruled to have left third base too early and was called out on appeal. But a hit batsman loaded the bases back up and JD Pumphrey cleared them off with a double that put the Lancers ahead to stay, 8-7.

Colby Sorensen's two-run triple highlighted North Scott's five-run seventh.

Jefferson closes out the Mississippi Valley Conference season Friday with a doubleheader at Waterloo East.
