Cedar Rapids Jefferson heads into postseason play with the No. 4 ranking in Class 5A softball, according to the final polls released Thursday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Jefferson completed the regular season with a 35-5 record, that included a 25-1 record in Mississippi Valley Conference games. The J-Hawks split a season-opening doubleheader with Iowa City West, then ran off 24 straight MVC wins.

Iowa City West (33-6) is ranked ninth.

Ankeny (34-6) is ranked No. 1, followed by West Des Moines Valley (29-5) and Muscatine (34-5).

Jefferson does not play until the regional semifinals on Saturday, when the J-Hawks face either Cedar Falls or Waterloo West. If they win that game they advance to the regional final on July 10 against either No. 10 Davenport West (29-10) or Davenport Central.
