FORT DODGE - Former Iowa Central softball player Morgan Allee has been named the NFCA Golden Shoe Award winner for the 2012 season. The award is given annually to the nation’s top base-stealer in each division. Allee swiped a school-record 73 stolen bases last season en-route to First Team NFCA All-American honors.

“We are very happy for Morgan, she had a tremendous career here and it was all because of the hard work that she put in,” said head coach Josh Sandin. “She’ll never admit it, but I know this was a very special award for her to win.”

Allee, a shortstop from Cedar Rapids Jefferson, set single-season school records in batting average (.540), hits (114), runs (89), triples (9) and stolen bases (73). Allee also set career records in batting average (.533), runs (151) and hits (191). She also set a single-game record with six stolen bases against Ellsworth in the Region XI Tournament. This season she reached base safely in 64 of Iowa Central’s 65 games and was named NJCAA Player of the Week twice. She was also named All-American four times by the NJCAA and NFCA. She is currently playing at Indiana State, an NCAA Division I program.

Allee is the third Triton to win the Golden Shoe Award. Samantha Waters won the award in 2008 with 52 stolen bases and Ashley Willard won the Award in 2009 with 72 stolen bases.
