Marion girls fall at Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON - Miranda Chapman and Alli Platte scored 10 points apiece Monday night as Mount Vernon topped Marion, 49-36, in a Wamac Conference girls basketball game in Mount Vernon.

Amanda Sahm led Marion (6-13, 6-10) with 13 points. The Indians scored only 10 points in the first half and trailed 22-10 at intermission.

Mount Vernon raised its record to 13-7.

Marion wrestlers end year at sectional

MOUNT VERNON - The Marion Indians finished in last place at a Class 2A sectional wrestling tournament Saturday and failed to advance anyone to the district meet next Saturday at Marion.

Trey Clifton (126), Caleb Conway (132) and Jack Serbousek (160) placed third for the Indians, but only the two top finishers in each weight class advanced.

Mount Vernon won the sectional title with 242 points.

Marion boys tumble at Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON - Daly Quinn scored 20 points Friday night and Craig Engle added 18, but they weren't enough to keep the Marion Indians from dropping a 74-61 verdict to Mount Vernon in a Wamamc Conference game in Mount Vernon.

Connor Herrmann scored 18 points for Mount Vernon.

Quinn made six 3-pointers for Marion and Engle had four treys. The Indians fell to 8-11 overall and 7-10 in the league.

Sahm, Mohr lift Marion past Mount Vernon

Amanda Sahm scored 17 points and Michalyn Mohr added 11 to lead Marion to a 60-50 win over Mount Vernon Friday night in a Wamac girls basketball game at Marion.

Alli Platte scored 17 points to lead Mount Vernon. Kaitlyn Volesky added 13.

Marion (6-12, 6-9) led by nine points at halftime, but Mount Vernon erased it and held a 41-40 edge at the end of the third quarter.

Marion used a 10-4 spurt to start the fourth quarter to build a 50-44 lead and pulled away for the win.

Meister leads Indians past Oelwein

Nate Meister had the hot hand for Marion on Thursday, rolling games of 212 and 236 for a 448 series that led the Indians past Oelwein, 2954-2843, Thursday in boys bowling at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

Zach Prucha rolled high game of 246 for Marion. Brandon Bradley had a 232 and Dakota Timmerman a 230.

Oelwein's Robert Wayne had high series of 452.
