Fast start propels Linn-Mar girls past Marion

Linn-Mar shot out to a 25-3 after one quarter and breezed past Marion, 54-33, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference girls basketball game at Marion.

Katie Sommer scored 27 points and Kristie Sommer added 15 to lead Linn-Mar (7-2).

Amanda Sahm's 16 points paced Marion (1-7).

Marion boys tripped by Williamsburg, 64-51

Craig Engle scored 23 points in a losing effort Friday night as Marion tumbled to Williamsburg, 64-51, in a Wamac Conference boys basketball game at Marion.

Derek Smith added 12 points for Marion (3-4).

Josh Koeppel's 23 points paced Williamsburg.

Marion girls dunked by Demons

Michalyn Mohr scored 12 points Tuesday night for the Marion Indians in a 51-40 loss to the Washington Demons in a non-conference girls basketball game at Marion.

The Indians fell to 1-6 with the setback.

Grace Redlinger scored 16 points for Washington (6-2).

Marion boys bump off Demons

Daly Quinn scored 15 points Tuesday night as the Marion Indians reached the .500 mark with a 48-38 victory over the Washington Demons in a non-conference game at Marion.

Craig Engle added 10 points for the Indians (3-3).

Thomas Bump topped Washington (0-4) with 11 markers.

Marion girls fall at Benton

VAN HORNE - The Marion Indians owned a seven-point lead at halftime Friday night in their Wamac Conference girls basketball game at Benton Community, but the visitors could not hang on in the second half.

Maggie Weirather scored 15 points and Natalie Parizek added 14 as Benton defeated Marion, 53-43.

Amanda Sahm scored 14 points for Marion (1-5, 1-4). Michalyn Mohr had 11.

Benton raised its records to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the Wamac.
