Perkins leads Marion girls to win

Paige Perkins scored 14 points to lead Marion past Vinton-Shellsburg, 43-28, Tuesday night in a Wamac Conference girls basketball game at Marion.

The Indians (10-6, 7-3) salted the game away at the free-throw line, making 15 of 21. Emi Banes was 6 of 8 and had eight points.

Vinton-Shellsburg dropped to 1-15, 0-10.

Marion 5th at Williamsburg meet

WILLIAMSBURG - Marion had three wrestlers place second en route to a fifth-place finish Saturday at the Raider Invitational in Williamsburg.

Second-place finishers for Marion were Levi Lochner (145), Kyle Grandon (195) and Mitch Ross (285).

Mount Pleasant and Williamsburg finished with 165 points apiece. Mount Pleasant was awarded the team title based on its wrestlers' 23 pins. Williamsburg had 22 pins.

Mohr nets 27 as Marion sails by Columbus

WATERLOO - Michalyn Mohr poured in 27 points Friday night as the Marion Indians defeated Waterloo Columbus, 54-39, in a Wamac Conference game in Waterloo.

Mohr, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, made 13 field goals and was 1-for-3 at the foul line.

Beth Knapp hit three 3-pointers and contributed nine points for Marion (9-6, 6-3). Emi Banes chipped in with seven markers.

Gunderson paces Marion past Columbus

Tyler Gunderson tossed in 15 points Friday night as the Marion Indians topped Waterloo Columbus, 51-41, in a Wamac Conference game at Marion.

Isaac Frazier contributed eight points for the Indians (7-6, 6-6). Daly Quinn and Brenden Landuyt scored seven points apiece.

Mitch Eighme led Waterloo Columbus with nine points.

Zach Prucha leads Marion boys bowlers

Zach Prucha shot a 244 high game and 443 series to lead Marion to second place in a boys bowling triangular Friday at Marion Bowl.

Western Dubuque won with a score of 3076. Marion had 2881 and Waterloo Columbus 2646.

Western Dubuque's Blake Nadermann had high game of 246 and the Bobcats' Luke Schroeder had high series with a 474.
