Ames puts Prairie in freezer, 40-20

AMES - The Cedar Rapids Prairie boys basketball team scored only 20 points Saturday and lost to the Ames Little Cyclones, 40-20, in a slowdown in Ames.

Max Smith-Drahos led Prairie (6-7) with 10 points. Cal Clark scored eight points and Jalen Rima had two points to account for all the markers.

Colby Shane scored 13 points for Ames (11-3).

Prairie scored 11 points in the first half and had nine points in the second half.

Uthoff, Hartzler wear crowns at Clinton

CLINTON - Sam Uthoff of Cedar Rapids Prairie and Shea Hartzler of Linn-Mar won titles at the Bob Lueders Invitational wrestling tournament in Clinton Saturday.

Uthoff ran his record to 31-0 at 132 pounds with a pin, two major decisions and a 4-0 verdict in the finals.

Hartzler collected three pins and a major decision on his path to top honors at 160 pounds.

Taylor Mehmen of Prairie placed second at 195 pounds.

Schmitt lifts Prairie girls by Bettendorf

BETTENDORF - Sarah Schmitt collected 17 points, six assists and four steals Saturday to help the Cedar Rapids Prairie girls basketball team defeat Bettendorf, 66-42, in a non-conference game in Bettendorf.

Halle Person scored 11 points for the Hawks (9-7). Lynsey Altenhofen and Olivia Usher added eight points apiece.

Taylor VanZuiden scored 13 points for Bettendorf (6-8).

Blood rolls 436 series for Hawks

IOWA CITY – Rylee Blood rolled a 215 game and a 436 series to lead the Prairie girls bowling team to a 2,766 to 2,493 win over Iowa City High in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Colonial Lanes.

Liz Goss had a 396 series for the Little Hawks.

Hunt rolls 448 series for Prairie

IOWA CITY – Walker Hunt led the way with a 237 game and a 448 series as the Prairie boys bowling team edged Iowa City High, 2,862 pins to 2,821, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Colonial Lanes.

Garrett Highly rolled a 493 series to lead the Little Hawks.
