No.10 Saints blanked by Bettendorf

BETTENDORF - The 10th-ranked Xavier Saints collected only three hits Monday and were shut out by Bettendorf, 5-0, in a non-conference game on the road.

The Saints had runners on third base in each of the first four innings, but could not score.

Xavier (22-15) visits Davenport Assumption on Tuesday.

No.6 Saints ousted by No.15 North Scott

The Xavier Saints will host the girls regional softball finals for the first time in school history Tuesday night.

Unfortunately for the Saints, they won't be playing.

The 15th-ranked North Scott Lancers eliminated the sixth-ranked Saints from the postseason tournament, 8-4, Saturday night in the Class 4A regional semifinals at Bob Erusha Field.

North Scott will play the Washington Demons in the regional finals Tuesday at Xavier. The Saints will be the hosts, but they'll be spectators.

Price receives IGCA district award

Xavier softball coach Nikki Price has been named District Coach of the Year by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Price, in her first season as head coach of the Saints, guided the team to a 29-11 record in the regular season and the Mississippi Division title in the Mississippi Valley Conference. Xavier is sixth in the final Class 4A rankings.

Price will receive her award July 29 during a ceremony at the IGCA All-Star softball games at Waukee.

   

Xavier girls soccer ranked 17th in U.S.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has named Cedar Rapids Xavier High School the 17th-ranked girls soccer team in the United States for the 2013 spring season.

The Saints won their eighth straight state title in June, capturing the Class 2A title. They lost only one game all season.

 

No.10 Saints swept by Wahlert

DUBUQUE - The 10th-ranked Xavier Saints were swept by Dubuque Wahlert, 7-5 and 8-5, Friday in their final Mississippi Valley Conference games of the season.

The Saints tied for fourth place in the Valley Division standings with Cedar Falls with a 15-11 league record. Xavier is 22-14 overall.

Bryce Grimm, Zach Brown, Luke Hammerberg and Mitch Keller had two hits for Xavier in the first game. Hammerberg drove in two runs and Brown scored twice.
