Mount Mercy women trim Statesmen

Andrea Lopez and Adelaide Bayne scored goals Wednesday as the Mount  Mercy women's soccer team edged William Penn, 2-1, in a Heart of  America Conference soccer match at the Plaster Athletic Complex.

Lopez tallied in the 37th minute on an assist from Megan Hall to give  the Mustangs a 1-0 lead at intermission. Bayne collected an unassisted  goal in the 54th minute for a 2-0 advantage.

William Penn scored its goal in the 80th minute, but Mount Mercy hung  on from there.

Mount Mercy volleyball trims Statesmen

OSKALOOSA - Alyssa Weldon, Becca Thomson and Maddie Bell combined for  60 kills Tuesday night as Mount Mercy edged William Penn in a Heart of  America Conference volleyball match, 25-22, 21-25, 26-28, 25-17, 15-7,  in Oskaloosa.

Weldon collected 25 kills, Bell had 21 and Thomson added 14 as the  Mustangs won the marathon contest after trailing 2-1 after three sets.

Thomson furnished 23 digs, Weldon 19 and Kayla Daggett 15. Daggett  also distributed 56 assists in the comeback victory.

Mustang women fall to Nazarene

OLATHE, Kan. - The Mount Mercy women's soccer team lost to MidAmerica  Nazarene, 4-2, in a Heart of America Conference match Saturday.

Payton Pottratz and Andrea Lopez scored goals for the Mustangs. Lopez  also had an assist on the goal by Pottratz.

Mount Mercy fell to 5-5-2 overall and 2-4 in the conference. Hannah  Benedict scored twice as MidAmerica Nazarene raised its records to  10-0-1 overall and 6-0 in the league.

 

   

No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene kicks Mustangs

OLATHE, Kan. - The 18th-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene men's soccer team blanked Mount Mercy, 3-0, in a Heart of America Conference match Saturday.

The Mustangs managed only one shot on goal in the 90-minute contest and had only three shots all told.

Mount Mercy fell to 6-3-3 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference. MidAmerica Nazarene raised its records to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the league.

 

No. 21 Central Methodist spikes MMU

The 21st-ranked Central Methodist women's volleyball team swept Mount Mercy, 25-16, 25-17, 25-14, in a Heart of America Conference match Saturday at the Hennessey Recreation Center.

Becca Thomson led the Mustangs with nine kills. Kayla Daggett had 24 assists. Lauren Stopko contributed 14 digs.

Mount Mercy fell to 15-10 overall and 4-8 in the conference. Central Methodist raised its records to 19-3 overall and 9-2 in the league.
