Reid Snitker wins Metro Spotlight Award

Cedar Rapids Washington senior Reid Snitker is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Snitker is one of the leading players on the top-ranked Washington football team that will face West Des Moines Dowling in the Class 4A championship game Friday night in the UNI-Dome.

Snitker played a superb game in a 28-17 victory over second-ranked Bettendorf in the semifinals Friday night. He hit 7 of 10 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns for his best passing game of the year, just when the Warriors needed him the most.

Isabella Sade wins Metro Spotlight Award

Marion sophomore Isabella Sade has been named the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Sade, a 6-foot-1 hitter, played a prominent role for the Marion Indians as they reached the semifinals of the Class 4A state volleyball tournament last week.

She collected 14 kills, five blocks and two digs when the third-ranked Indians defeated Charles City, 3-1, in the opening round of the tournament at the U.S. Cellular Center on Tuesday. She had 18 kills, four blocks and two digs when the Indians pushed second-ranked West Delaware to the limit before losing in the semifinals, 3-2, on Thursday.

Amanda Sahm wins Metro Spotlight Award

Marion senior Amanda Sahm is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Sahm, 5-foot-7, is one of the top volleyball players in the state and a key member of the Marion High School team that will face Charles City in the opening round of the Class 4A state tournament at the U.S. Cellular Center on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Sahm has accepted a scholarship to play Division I college volleyball at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina.

Sahm has been a "do-it-all" player for Coach Roxanne Paulsen and the Indians during her career. She ranks eighth in the state in Class 4A with 729 assists and has played all 99 sets for Marion.

Good-Jones wins Metro Spotlight Award

Julian Good-Jones of Cedar Rapids Washington has been named the Metro Spotlight winner for high school boys, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Good-Jones, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman, is one of the top football players in the state and a key member of the Washington team that has won 12 straight games this season.

The top-ranked Warriors will face second-ranked Bettendorf in the semifinals of the Class 4A playoffs on Friday at 4:06 p.m. in the UNI-Dome.

Good-Jones has committed to the Iowa State Cyclones as an offensive lineman, but he's been a two-way player for Washington this season on both sides of the ball. He's a member of a powerful offensive line that has helped the Warriors run for 3,420 yards, which is the second-best total in Class 4A in the state.

Dralle wins Metro Spotlight Award

Cedar Rapids Kennedy junior Tyler Dralle is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Dralle had a monster game for the Cougars in their 20-17 victory over Muscatine in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs last Wednesday night. He carried the ball 46 times for 234 yards and a touchdown as Kennedy advanced to the Sweet 16.

Dralle and Logan Wedo split time at tailback this season, but Dralle was asked to carry a heavy load in the playoffs with Wedo sidelined with a separated shoulder. Dralle, 5-10, 180, welcomed the challenge and Kennedy Coach Brian White compared Dralle to John Riggins, a blue-collar workhorse for the Washington Redskins a generation ago. Dralle does not have great moves or terrific speed, but he'll carry the ball time after time and get key yards.
