Trimble paces Wash bowlers in loss

Donovan Trimble led the Washington boys bowling team with a 379 series and Zach Nading rolled a 192 game, but the Warriors suffered a 2,861 to 2,382 loss to Waterloo West on Tuesday at Lancer Lanes.

Washington: Donovan Trimble 189-190=379, Zach Nading 171-192=363, Cameron Trimble 187-125=312, John Taylor 169-126=295, Hunter Bachmeier 137-146=283, Gabe Wedel 168-88=256.

Waterloo West: 1,911-950=2,861.

Christensen leads Wash bowlers in loss

Shania Christensen rolled a 377 series for the Washington girls bowling team, but the Warriors lost to Waterloo West 2,385 pins to 2,170 Tuesday at Lancer Lanes.

Christensen rolled a 190 game for Washington and Ella Wake was close behind with a 184 game.

Katlyn Bracken had a 322 series for the Wahawks.

Jeff swimmers fall to City High

The Jefferson boys swimming team won five events in a 101-69 loss to Iowa City High on Tuesday at Jefferson.

Max McChesney won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 56.74 seconds for the J-Hawks. Luke Hummell took the 50 freestyle in 23.83 and Ryan Martin won the 100 freestyle in 53.03.

Jefferson also claimed the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Mustang women fall to No. 9 Stritch

The ninth-ranked Cardinal Stritch women’s basketball team ran away with a 78-62 win over Mount Mercy on Tuesday at the Hennessey Recreation Center.

Cardinal Stritch (13-3) pulled away with a 24-15 run in the second quarter to take control and built a 63-42 entering the fourth quarter.

Ashley Dolan scored 18 points for Mount Mercy (6-11). Abby Herb had 17 points and Makenzie Zeitler grabbed seven rebounds.

Emily Neitzel scored 18 points to lead Cardinal Stritch.

Washington swimmers dunk Kennedy

The Washington boys swimming team won eight events and beat Kennedy, 101-69, Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Washington.

Cameron Kelley won the 200 freestyle (1:52.04) and the 500 freestyle (5:06.28) for the Warriors. Nick Saulnier won the 200 individual medley (2:02.97) and 100 freestyle (48.78).

Kaleb Donels took the 100 backstroke (57.84) and Washington won the 200 medley (1:41.60), 200 freestyle (1:31.57) and 400 freestyle (3:36.45) relays.

Cade Schoenauer captured the 50-yard freestyle (23.25 seconds) and 100 butterfly (56.65) for the Cougars. Stefan Kitsos won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.25).
