BETTENDORF - Linn-Mar scored eight runs in the second inning of the nightcap and roared past Pleasant Valley, 14-8, to salvage a split of a nonconference baseball doubleheader.

Pleasant Valley scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the opener, 7-6.

Austin Stroschein had three hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs to lead the Lions (5-4) in the nightcap. Jimmy Roth was 4-for-4 and drove in three runs. Caleb Reimer had three hits. The Lions collected 17 hits.

Brandon Bradley gave up seven runs over 3.1 innings but was credited with the win.

Mitch Stickney had a pair of hits in each game for Linn-Mar. He scored three runs in the opener. Stroschein, Roth and Jack Strellner had two hits apiece in the first game. Stroschein had an RBI.
