No.5 Eagles split games in Missouri

CROWDER, Mo. —  Sam Belz tossed a four-hit shutout Saturday as the fifth-ranked Kirkwood softball team from Cedar Rapids blanked Seminole State, 4-0, in their first game at the Crowder Tournament in Crowder, Mo.

Chasney Jenkins and Erin Weno went 2-for-4 for the Eagles. Jenkins, Weno, Brittney Lash and Krysta Tutsch drove in runs. Belz struck out six batters in the seven-inning game.

Kirkwood lost to Northern Oklahoma College, 2-1, in its second game Saturday despite another four-hitter by Belz. Natalie Clark drove in the only run for the Eagles (12-4).

Kirkwood is scheduled to play two more games in the tournament Sunday.
