Jambois rolls 502 series for Cougars

DUBUQUE – James Jambois led the all bowlers with a 256 game and a 502 series, but the Kennedy boys bowling team lost to Dubuque Senior, 2,836 to 2,663, Friday at Cherry Lanes.

Josh Oertel rolled a 436 series for the Rams.

Oliphant leads Cougars in Dubuque

DUBUQUE – Cate Oliphant rolled a 206 game and a 346 series for the Kennedy girls bowling team in a close 2,212 to 2,189 loss to Dubuque Senior on Friday at Cherry Lanes.

Macy Schmidt led the Rams with a 353 series.

KENNEDY: Cate Oliphant 140-206=346, Jamie Milota 170-159=329, Abbie Haller 150-129=289, Alyssa Wiedemeier 144-134=278, Jill Zaiser 126-140=266, Sam Eltze 126-127=253.

Wilson has big game for CVC girls

WYOMING - Candace Wilson turned in a big game for the Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team in a tough 45-43 loss to Midland on Friday night.

Wilson finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and five assists for the Huskies (3-7). Molly Hembera contributed 13 points for Cedar Valley.

Rylee Andreson scored 15 points for Midland (4-7).

Cedar Valley led at halftime, 23-15.

Cedar Valley boys fall to Midland

WYOMING - Alex Martens scored 17 points Friday night as Midland defeated Cedar Valley Christian, 73-37, in a Tri-Rivers Conference boys basketball game in Wyoming.

Kyle Gustafson made four 3-pointers and scored 14 points for Cedar Valley (1-8). Connor Harms added 14 points for Midland (5-6).

Drew Gustafson and Jackson Foote did not play for Cedar Valley due to illness.

Hayhurst helps RoughRiders tip Dubuque

DUBUQUE - Jacob Hayhurst scored a power-play goal at the 14:27 mark of the third period Friday night to snap a 3-3 tie and help the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders trim Dubuque, 4-3, in a USHL game before 2,378 fans at the Mystique Ice Center.

Matt Filipe and Luke Morgan collected assists on the game-winning goal.

The RoughRiders trailed 3-1 in the second period before storming back with three straight goals for the victory. Ross Colton pulled Cedar Rapids within 3-2 and Cal Burke tied the game 3-3 at the 13:26 mark of the second stanza.

That set the stage for Hayhurst to snap the tie and give the RoughRiders a clutch victory on the road. Dubuque leads the Eastern Conference with 42 points, but Cedar Rapids (41) and Green Bay (40) are right behind in the tight race.
