Kirkwood cagers sweep Little Priest

WINNEBAGO, Neb. - The Kirkwood basketball teams rolled to easy  victories over Little Priest Tribal College in ICCAC conference games  in Nebraska Saturday.

The top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team crushed Little Priest  by 49 points, 111-62, for its straight lopsided victory. The Eagles  defeated Ellsworth by 50 points on Wednesday.

Kemara Watson led Kirkwood (20-1, 7-0) with 21 points. Paige Bradford  scored 19 points, Tatiana Hodges-Johnson netted 14 points and Marissa  Metz had 13.

Mount Mercy men fall in OT

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Mount Mercy men's basketball team lost to  Evangel, 91-89, in overtime Saturday in a Heart of America Conference  game in Springfield.

Streeter McIlravy popped in six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 27  points for the Mustangs (9-10, 4-9). Bailey Basala finished with a  double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. RoyShawn Webb  contributed 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

Evangel raised its records to 12-8 overall and 8-6 in the conference.

The Mount Mercy women's basketball team lost to Evangel in the first  game of the doubleheader, 77-44. The Mustangs trailed 18-3 after the  first quarter.

No. 1 KCC women win by 50 points

Paige Bradford scored 22 points Wednesday night as the top-ranked  Kirkwood Eagles crushed Ellsworth, 89-39, in an ICCAC game at Johnson  Hall.

Kirkwood raised its records to 19-1 overall and 6-0 in the league.  Winless Ellsworth fell to 0-18 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

Kemara Watson hit 8 of 9 shots and scored 17 points for Kirkwood.  Delani Harris netted 15 points and Tatiana Hodges-Johnson had 12.

Ellie Barrows tossed in six 3-pointers and scored 24 points for Ellsworth.

No. 17 Eagles dump Ellsworth

Jamal Stephenson popped in 20 points Wednesday night as the  17th-ranked Kirkwood Eagles defeated Ellsworth, 88-66, in an ICCAC  conference game at Johnson Hall.

Stephenson shot 8 for 11 from the field and made four 3-pointers.

Kirkwood raised its records to 14-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference.  Ellsworth fell to 10-10 overall and 1-4 in the league.

Luke Appel scored 16 points for the Eagles. Devonte Thedford had 15  points, Griff Clark 12 and Niko Gosnell 11. Clark was 4-for-5 on  3-pointers and Thedford was 3-for-3 as the Eagles shot 13 of 20 from  behind the arc.

Adam Jackson and Anthony Eddy had 12 points for Ellsworth.

No. 1 KCC women raise mark to 18-1

Ju Gaston collected a double-double Monday night as the top-ranked  Kirkwood women's basketball team defeated Southwestern, 71-45, in an  ICCAC conference game at Johnson Hall.

Gaston finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two  steals for the Eagles, who raised their records to 18-1 overall and  5-0 in the league.

Amara Lipsey made all three of her 3-pointers and scored 13 points for  Kirkwood. Kemara Watson contributed 10 points and eight rebounds.

Simone Jordan scored 16 points for Southwestern (6-12, 1-4).

Kirkwood led by only two points at halftime, 25-23, but the Eagles  outscored the Spartans 29-8 in the third quarter to take control.
