No. 3 Marion rolls by Williamsburg

Caitlyn Smith rolled up 40 assists Tuesday night as the third-ranked Marion Indians spanked Williamsburg, 25-14, 25-15, 25-4, in a Wamac Conference volleyball match at Marion.

Alyssa Thomas led the kill-shot artists with 12 for the Indians. Isabella Sade had 11 kills and Olivia Frazier nine.

Haley Dullea finished with 14 digs for Marion. Alicia Steepleton and Sade blocked four shots. Frazier had three blocks.

 

No. 6 Lions trimmed by No. 3 Tigers

The third-ranked Linn-Mar volleyball team dropped a tight match to No. 3 Cedar Falls Tuesday night, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 23-25, 18-16, in a Mississippi Valley Conference showdown at Linn-Mar.

Amanda Ollinger led the Lions with 31 kills. Megan Renner had 11 kills and Carly Spies 10.

Ellie Anderson rolled up 47 assists for Linn-Mar. Renner finished with 17 digs, Emilee McGowan had 15 and Ollinger 12.

 

Jefferson sweeps Dubuque Senior

Maddy Baxter rolled up 36 assists Tuesday night as the Jefferson J-Hawks swept Dubuque Senior, 25-20, 25-22, 25-13, in a Mississippi Valley Conference volleyball meet at Jefferson.

Maddie Slagle slammed 16 kills for the J-Hawks. Sydney Kloubec had 12 kills, Abbie Ranschau six and Kristen Naber six.

Sam Kitterman, Lexi Moorer and Slagle all finished with 11 digs.

   

Mount Mercy spiked by Clarke

DUBUQUE - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team was swept by Clarke, 25-22, 25-20, 25-19, in a match Tuesday night in Dubuque.

Cori Peterzalek led the Mustangs with 10 kills. Leslie Hoffmann had eight kills, Becca Thomson seven and Olivia Coe seven.

Abbie Perez collected 18 assists for Mount Mercy and Hannah Whitley had 14.

Lauren Stopko finished with 16 digs, Thomson had 15 and Peterzalek 14. Emma Pisarik had four blocks.

Mount Mercy fell to 20-10 for the season. Clarke raised its record to 19-5.

 

McChesney, Thompson lead Jeff swimmers

Mika McChesney and Josie Thompson were double-winners for the Jefferson J-Hawks in a 107-79 loss to Dubuque Senior on Tuesday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference swimming meet at Jefferson.

McChesney captured the 50 freestyle, Thompson won the 100 butterfly and they both swam on the triumphant 200 medley relay.
