Jared Printy commits to Western Michigan

Linn-Mar senior Jared Printy plans to continue his basketball career at Western Michigan University, The Gazette reported on its website Thursday night.

Printy, a 6-foot-5 guard, was offered a scholarship by Western Michigan on Monday and accepted on Thursday.

Printy transferred from Cedar Rapids Washington to Linn-Mar last spring. He averaged 12.2 points and made 51 3-pointers for the Warriors last season.

 

 

Broghammer helps Lions sink Rams

Paige Broghammer was a triple-winner Thursday night as the Linn-Mar Lions nipped Dubuque Senior, 94-91, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls swimming meet at the Linn-Mar Aquatic Center.

Broghammer captured the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke and swam on the triumphant 200 medley relay.

Madison Renz took the 50 freestyle for Linn-Mar and swam on the medley relay. Grace Ahlers won the 500 free.

Washington swimmers sink Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN - Jenny Hughes and Lauren Havertape were triple-winners Thursday night as the Washington Warriors dunked Marshalltown, 106-80, in a girls swimming meet in Marshalltown.

Hughes won the 200 IM and 100 freestyle and swam on the triumphant 200 freestyle relay. Havertape captured the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke and swam on the 200 freestyle relay with Hughes, Logan Eckhardt and Kaitlyn Nemickas.

Emily Nelson took the 200 freestyle for the Warriors and Delaney Thoma won the 500 free.

Mount Mercy sweeps volleyball match

The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team raised its record to 14-7 Thursday night by sweeping Culver-Stockton, 25-14, 26-24, 25-20, at the Hennessey Recreation Center.

Olivia Coe led the Mustangs with 15 kills. Cori Peterzalek contributed 12 digs and nine kills.

Becca Thomson collected 18 digs and seven kills. Leslie Hoffmann also had seven kills. Abbie Perez finished with 23 assists and Hannah Whitley had 13 assists.

 

Cedar Valley falls to North Linn

The Cedar Valley Christian volleyball team lost to North Linn, 25-8, 16-25, 25-11, 25-17, in a Tri-Rivers Conference match Thursday night at Cedar Valley.

Candace Wilson collected 13 assists and seven kills for Cedar Valley. Maggie Cach contributed nine kills and seven assists.

Emma Slagle had five digs for the Huskies.
