No. 4 Eagles flattened by Southeastern

The Kirkwood women's volleyball team ran into a formidable opponent  Wednesday night in the ICCAC conference opener at Johnson Hall.

The fourth-ranked Eagles were swept by Southeastern Community College,  25-21, 25-20, 25-22, on their home floor.

Kirkwood fell to 6-4 overall for the campaign. Southeastern squared  its record at 5-5.

Aubrin Dittmer and Anna Gorsich had eight kills for Kirkwood. Olivia  Richards, Taylor Carey and Maggie Peters had four apiece.

Cook helps Mustangs grab 2nd place

DIKE - Natalea Cook of Mount Mercy tied for second in the individual  standings Sunday to help the Mustangs take runner-up honors at the  Luther North Classic golf tournament at the Fox Ridge Golf Club.

Cook finished at 10-over-par 154 with rounds of 80 and 74 in the  two-day tournament. Daniela Miranda of the University of Dubuque  posted a four-shot victory at 150.

Casey Noble of Mount Mercy tied for ninth at 14-over 158.

Harris-Stowe boots Mustang women

The Mount Mercy women's soccer team lost to Harris-Stowe State, 5-3,  in a non-conference match Sunday at the Plaster Athletic Complex.

Keagan Ovenshire, Abby Estabrook and Holli Jones scored for the  Mustangs, who fell to 1-2 for the season.

Harris-Stowe took a 2-0 lead in the first half before Ovenshire put  the Mustangs on the board at the 33:28 mark with an assist from Carly  Walker.

Harris-Stowe countered to make it 3-1 in the second half. Estabrook  collected an unassisted goal to make it 3-2, but Johanna Wallstab  scored twice to give Harris-Stowe a 5-2 cushion before Jones tallied  late in the match.

Dittmer helps No. 4 Eagles split matches

NORFOLK, Neb. - Aubrin Dittmer collected 25 kills Saturday as the fourth-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team split two matches at  the Northeast Tournament in Nebraska.

Dittmer had 10 kills to help the Eagles defeat Southeastern, 25-16,  22-25, 25-21, 25-16, in their first match. She had 15 more kill shots as the Eagles lost to North Dakota State College of Science, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20.

Kirkwood compiled a 3-1 record in the two-day tournament and has a 6-3 record for the season.

Mustangs split matches in Chicago

CHICAGO - Gabi Delsing made 39 digs Saturday as the Mount Mercy women's volleyball team split two matches at a tournament in Chicago.

Delsing had 21 digs as the Mustangs topped St. Francis (Ill.), 25-21,  22-25, 27-25, 25-20, in a tight match. She added 18 digs in a setback  to St. Xavier (Ill.), 25-13, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23.

Mount Mercy went 2-2 in the tournament and is 7-2 for the campaign.
