Kirkwood volleyball sweeps Iowa Lakes

ESTHERVILLE - The Kirkwood women's volleyball team swept Iowa Lakes,  25-23, 25-9, 25-22, in an ICCAC conference match Wednesday night in  Estherville.

Anna Gorsich led the attack for the 19th-ranked Eagles with 14 kills  and 10 digs. Olivia Richards contributed nine kills and 14 digs. Abbie  Ericson had eight kills.

Madi Wagaman distributed 26 assists for Kirkwood. Maranda Wheelock had  20 digs.

No. 18 Missouri Valley boots Mustangs

The Mount Mercy men's soccer team lost to 18th-ranked Missouri Valley,  4-1, in a Heart of America Conference match at the Plaster Athletic  Complex Tuesday night.

Will Hanigan scored in the 56th minute for the Mustangs with an assist  from Jose Leite to tie the match at 1-1, but Missouri Valley responded  with three straight goals to secure the victory.

The outcome left Mount Mercy at 7-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the  conference. Missouri Valley raised its records to 9-4 overall and 4-4  in the league.

Nelson leads Mustang golfers at TPC

SILVIS, Ill. - Philip Nelson of Mount Mercy fired rounds of 75 and 73  to lead the Mustangs at the NAIA Midwest Invitational on the TPC  course at Deere Run Tuesday.

Nelson tied for 11th in the individual standings at 6-over-par 148.  The Mustangs finished eighth out of 19 teams in the tournament.

Bellevue University (Neb.) won the title by 15 shots.

KCC golfers edged at regional preview

RIVERSIDE - The Kirkwood men's golf team was edged by DMACC, 306-308,  for top honors at the NJCAA Region XI fall title Monday at Blue Top  Ridge.

Noah Hartman of DMACC claimed medalist honors at even-par 72.

Ben  Epperly of Kirkwood finished second at 2-over 74.

Mount Mercy women take 2nd at Deere Run

SILVIS, Ill. - The Mount Mercy women's golf team placed second at the  TPC Deere Run Invitational Sunday.

William Penn claimed the title at 701 for 36 holes, with the Mustangs  finishing 16 shots back in second place at 717.

Kayla Stammer tied for fourth place in the individual standings for  the Mustangs. Casey Noble finished seventh.

Brittany Evans of William Penn claimed medalist honors.
