No. 7 Cougars dunked by No. 5 Tigers

CEDAR FALLS - The seventh-ranked Kennedy girls swim team was edged by No. 5 Cedar Falls, 97-89, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Tuesday night in Cedar Falls.

Cedar Falls got a measure of revenge against the Cougars, who topped the Tigers and captured first place Saturday at the Cedar Falls Invitational.

Kassidy Lovig was a triple-winner Tuesday night for Kennedy. She won the 200 free and 500 free and swam on the victorious 400 freestyle relay.

Mackinzee Macho, Maddie Bagby and Jessica Williams were double-winners for the Cougars. Macho took the 200 IM and 100 butterly. Bagby and Williams nabbed one individual victory and one relay title.

Washington swimmers dunk Hempstead

DUBUQUE - The Washington Warriors used their depth to sink Hempstead, 111-75, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls swimming meet Tuesday night in Dubuque.

Both teams won six events, but Washington collected 10 second-place finishes to only two for Hempstead.

Logan Eckhardt, Emily Nelson, Jenny Hughes and Alyssa Harris were double-winners for the Warriors. Kaitlyn Nemickas, Jacey Carr and Ellie Bryant also triumphed for Washington.

Mustangs take 3rd at Grand View golf

POLK CITY - The Mount Mercy men's golf team finished third out of 11 teams at the Grand View Viking Classic at the Tournament Club of Iowa on Tuesday in Polk City.

Grand View won the 36-hole meet at 573, followed by Texas Wesleyan (579) and Mount Mercy (591).

George Long of Mount Mercy tied for third place at 1-over-par 143 with rounds of 73 and 70. Leo Mathard of Texas Wesleyan was the medalist at 2-under 140.

Hoffmann sparks Mount Mercy volleyball

DAVENPORT - Leslie Hoffmann slammed 20 kills Tuesday night as the Mount Mercy volleyball team swept Saint Ambrose, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19, at Lee Lohman Arena in Davenport.

The Mustangs raised their record to 19-9. Saint Ambrose fell to 6-13.

Cori Peterzalek collected nine kills and nine digs for Mount Mercy. Abbie Perez had 17 assists and Hannah Whitley had 15 assists. Lauren Stopko provided 12 digs.

Perez served three aces. Emma Pisarik and Olivia Coe had three blocks.
