Alyssa Olson tossed her eighth shutout of the season in the 10-0 victory in the first game. She struck out six batters in the six-inning game. Avery Guy, Kennedy Dighton, Maddie Hansen and Taylor Holub had two hits. Holub drove in two runs.

Alissa Good was the winning pitcher in the 12-0 win in the nightcap, which lasted only three innings. She helped her own cause by going 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Guy also went 2-for-2.

Jefferson raised its overall record to 27-6. Waterloo East fell to 6-16 in the conference and 11-19 overall.

Dickinson retires as L-M soccer coach

Steve Dickinson has retired as the girls soccer coach at Linn-Mar High School after 11 years.

Dickinson won four Mississippi Valley Conference titles and made four trips to the state tournament with the Lions. He was named the State Coach of the Year during his career, among other honors.

"Coach Dickinson, along with all the players and coaches on his staff, have helped turn our LMGS program into a top-10 ranked program in the state," said Linn-Mar associate athletic director Tonya Moe. "He bleeds red and black and loves the game of soccer."
